Today's reading

1. What is God Like?

Psalm 93

His eternality, might, and steadfastness is compared to the might and volatility of the sea, an image of power, change, and eternity.

Psalm 96

v. 5: God deserves to be feared and praised because He has mighty creative power that He demonstrated when He made the heavens which He uses as His sanctuary.

v. 9-10: God deserves worship because His reign is secure and eternal; He has established the world so that it cannot be shaken; He judges all people with equity.

v. 13: When He comes to judge the earth, all creation will rejoice because He is just and trustworthy.

Psalm 34

v. 4: God delivers the afflicted.

v. 5: God always shows up for those who trust in Him. He doesn't make fools of us.

v. 7: God guards those who trust Him on all sides and delivers them.

v. 8-9: God is good and He provides everything we need.

v. 15: God is attentive to the cry of the just (those who keep themselves from evil speech, who turn from evil, seek peace, and do good)

v. 15: God's face is against those who do evil.

v. 18: God is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

v. 19-20: God may allow many troubles in a righteous person's life, but He will deliver that person from all of them.

v. 21-22: God will ensure that the enemies of the just will be condemned and that those who take refuge in Him will be saved.
